Laundry Franchise Not Getting Customers?
The store looks right. The machines are new, the signboard carries a known name, the counter is clean. And yet most afternoons, the only person who walks in is the delivery boy.
If you run a laundry or dry-cleaning franchise and the customers haven't come the way you expected, you're not alone, and it's usually not your fault. A brand name helps people trust you once they find you. It doesn't make people in your sector find you. That part is local, and it's something you can work on from this week.
1. Find out where your current customers came from
For the next two weeks, ask every new customer one question: "Aapko humare baare mein kaise pata chala?" (How did you hear about us?) Write the answer down. Most owners are surprised: a large share often comes from one society, one guard, or one Google search. Double down on what's already working before trying anything new.
2. Fix your Google Business Profile
When someone searches "dry cleaner near me", this is what they see first. Check that you have:
- Correct timings, including Sundays and festival days
- At least 10 real photos: the shop front, the counter, machines, neatly packed orders
- Every service listed: dry cleaning, laundry, shoes, curtains, blankets
- A reply to every review, good or bad, within a day
3. Own the 2 km around your store
Your customers live within a short drive. Make sure every society in that circle knows you exist:
- Ask RWA admins if you can share one helpful post in the society group
- Run a weekend stall at the society gate during festival season
- Offer pickup and drop for the societies closest to you
4. Make every order easy to repeat
Customers come back when nothing goes wrong. Tag every piece, write the ready date on the receipt, and send a WhatsApp message when the order is ready. Customers who come back are also the ones who recommend you to their neighbours.
5. Ask for reviews at the right moment
The best moment is delivery, when the customer is holding a clean, well-packed order. Keep a QR code on the counter and ask, "Aapko kaam achha laga toh ek review de dijiye" (If you liked the work, please leave a review). Ten honest reviews change how a new customer sees you.
6. Be where customers compare
More and more people compare cleaners online before choosing. On a comparison platform like Launzo, customers in your sector see your services, timings, pickup and verified reviews next to other shops, and message you directly on WhatsApp. There is no commission on orders; the customer pays you.
One thing to check first: some franchise agreements have rules about listing on other platforms. Read yours, or ask your franchise manager, before you sign up anywhere.
The shop that serves best, wins
Big brands, small brands and independent shops all start from the same place on a comparison page. The one with the best work, the clearest ready date and the fastest reply on WhatsApp gets the customer.
