How to Choose a Good Dry Cleaner in Gurugram
You've just picked up your favourite shirt from the dry cleaner, and the collar has a new shine you didn't ask for. Or the lehenga came back on time, but two days after the function.
Most bad dry cleaning experiences in Gurugram don't come from bad luck. They come from choosing a shop without checking a few simple things first. Here are the seven checks that matter, in the order we'd do them.
1. Ask what process they use for your fabric
Cotton, silk, wool and embroidered wear each need a different treatment. A good dry cleaner can tell you, in one sentence, how they will clean your piece and whether it goes for dry cleaning, wet cleaning or steam press only. If the answer is "sab ek jaisa hota hai" (everything is done the same way), keep looking.
2. Check whether they clean in-house or send it out
Many small counters collect clothes and send them to a central plant. That isn't wrong, but it adds days and one more pair of hands. Ask where the cleaning actually happens. For wedding wear and silk, a shop with its own plant is easier to hold to account.
3. Look for tagging
Every piece should get a tag or barcode when you hand it over, and your receipt should list each item. This is the simplest protection against lost or swapped clothes.
4. Get the ready date in writing
"Kal tak ho jayega" (it'll be ready tomorrow) is not a ready date. A good shop writes the date on the receipt, and tells you upfront if express service is available for urgent pieces.
5. Ask about stains before, not after
Point out every stain when you hand over the piece. A trustworthy cleaner will tell you honestly which stains may not come out, instead of promising everything and apologising later.
6. Ask what happens if something is damaged
It's an awkward question, and that's exactly why it matters. Shops that have a clear damage policy, even a simple one, have usually thought about quality. Shops that laugh it off usually haven't.
7. Read reviews from people who actually used them
Star ratings mean little if anyone can post them. Look for reviews that mention specific items ("my blazer", "curtains", "silk saree") and recent dates. A shop with five honest reviews often tells you more than one with hundreds of one-line ratings.
Compare before you choose
You don't have to visit five shops to do all this. On Launzo you can see the dry cleaners in your sector side by side: their price list, when your clothes will be ready, whether they pick up, and reviews from customers with a verified order. Then message the one you like directly on WhatsApp.
